Kenny Alvarez Mrs.Park November, 9 2017 The Crucible essay
Arthur Miller's play “The Crucible” was a statement about idiotic sense of the red scare by using a similar setting known as the salem witch trials of 1692 The Crucible by arthur miller was based on several facts known as the salem witch trials of 1692. Arthur miller explores the meaning of one name and identity through conflicts exposing one's beliefs, the power to influence others, and the power of false confessions. Therefore conflicts play a gigantic role in the play because the main conflicts revealed a lot about one's beliefs, as in the way a name is portrayed in the story.”Why, I am sure it is,sir. There be no blush about my name. My name is good in the village! I will not have it said my name is soiled! Goody Proctor is a gossiping liar!” Miller(pg. 4) this means that Abigailś name is so clean that not even the lightest shade of blush can be seen, and that she doesn't want her name tainted by anyone while also stating that elizabeth proctor is a liar. this is stated by Abigail while Reverend Parris confronts her from being fired by Elizabeth Proctor. The quote shows many things from the play because it confronts the conflict that drives the play, and it shows the hatred of Abigail towards Elizabeth Proctor. This proves the power of conflicts in the story and now how they influence others. Another key point, is that Miller explores the meaning of one's name by showing that it has the power to influence others. This is true due to the fact that the “cleaner” your name is the more people are willing to listen, and believe you in this puritan society just sd the girls did, showed through the quote ¨Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God’s fingers? I’ll tell you what’s walking Salem—vengeance is walking Salem. We are what we always were in Salem, but now the little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom...¨ (Miller pg.24).This quote states that even though someone used to be trustworthy do they deserve it now or have they changed your ways, and that revenge is controlling how people are thinking with younger girls such as Abigail influencing the decisions of the people in power. This also brings denial when you are proven guilty just as Reverend Parris was when Abigaile was accused of lying. This proves that names have power to influence. Furthermore, Miller explores the power of one's name by showing how some prefer to falsely confess than to tarnish their name. This was at the end if the play were it was a difference between life and death. The argument between Elizabeth Proctor and John Proctor were they debated if john was going to lie and survive or tell the truth and die if, but the drawbacks were if if he died they would sell his farm but if he lied his whole family would live in shame. This would prove the power and influence of false confessions. Also, Arthur miller explores the meaning of one name and identity through the battle of one's beliefs, the power to persuade others, and the gigantic effect of falsely confessing. This story teaches us a lot and because we have a leader who might start scapegoating once again by tarnishing names of a different background.

Freedoms essay
Many well known news companies such as the New york Times and The Washington Post have written A story on Juli Briskman who was fired for flipping off President Donald Trump. Flipping anyone off is disrespectful in many cases, it doesn't mean Briskman should have been fired. She is protected by the First Amendment right of Freedom of speech, and laws against Unwarranted termination. With the first amendment in mind it protect her because in the constitution The First amendment states ,” congress shall make no law restricting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ;or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press or the right to peacefully assemble and to petition the government for a redress of government.” Meaning that the government cannot make laws against the freedom of religion, speech, press, or the right to peacefully protest. Flipping of the president is not unconstitutional because it is under the freedom of speech. I tis not considered a fact it is considered her opinion and flipping him off was her way of expressing herself. This proves that Juli is protected by the First amendment ,but aren’t the people who fired her just allowed to do that. Although employers have many powers against their employees, unwarranted termination is not one of them. Unwarranted termination or wrongful dismissal laws should let briskman keep her job because they prevents an employers from firing employees, due to race nationality, religion, sex, age, or sexual orientation. This proves that an employer cannot unemploy someone for any reason such as flipping off the president. These facts prove that an employer cannot fire an employee because if they do they are breaking the law of unwarranted termination and not being true to the constitution because they are also protected by the First amendment of speech. By these fact Juli Briskman should not have been fired and these law might help you one day.
Kenny Alvarez Per. 3-4 12/12/17 Is google negatively affecting our intelligence
Google is a search engine which allows anyone access to information. Some people think lowering our intelligence, but there are many things that argue otherwise. Google is not making duller, in fact, Google gives us more and easier access to information, and it corrects us when we need it to. The need to acquire and to benefit from information is a new skill needed to survive our society. If you have a question the default answer to it now is Google it. This show that Google is a faster way of acquiring information because we don't say go to the library and read. This is shown by source A through the quote ¨Just as a car allows us to move faster and a telescope allows us to see farther, access to the internet´s information allows us to think better and faster.¨ this can symbolize humans tenacity to use to acquire and process new information. With that in mind, Google has become one of those tools. It allows us to get reliable research sources for many subjects. Although Google is filled with many educational and reliable sources it is filled with many distractions, source A also states ¨ 81 percent of experts polled by the Dew internet research project say the opportunities outweigh the distractions.¨ meaning that people might get distracted by Google, but others will thrive with it, making them grow smarter. Intelligence can also be measured by how accurate and reliable can be when a question is asked, that's why knowing if your right in a conversation or debate is a big deal. You want to ensure that you are giving people credible information and evidence. While going to the library could be a great way to check and test your information, who has time to go to the library. Students are usually trying to get or sustain good grades, while adults are working hard to support their children in there early years. Google, however, is accessible at almost any time to check your spelling, source C a state ¨without internet access, if we wanted to know something we had limited resources like books in the nearby library ¨which shows how limited without Google as a resource. After you make mistake Google can correct them, this is stated by source C in the words,¨ it is a fact checker or it can enforce what we already know¨, this can translate to Google can double check our answers or it will give you more evidence. After writing something, Google can check your spelling mistake instead of you spelling the word to your best knowledge and possibly spell it incorrectly. In conclusion, Google has helped us in many ways, each one giving us more accessibility to information and it corrects us when we need it to. Without Google, we might now know of the world's most common knowledge. Google has made it possible for people to learn in many ways. In total Google has helped us grow smarter.
Giovanni Jimenez Kenny Alvarez Maximilian Mendoza Junk food in school should not be banned because some kids at school don’t eat school lunch but prefer a bag of chips also if schools want to take unhealthy choices out of their schools they’re going to have to change their whole lunch menu because the foods that the school serve are more unhealthy than junk food itself Furthermore some kids do not eat at all in school. Kids have a tendency to be picky eaters witch a t school could prevent them from eating. This is understandable with school food because it is made in a hurry to feed hundreds of students at a time. This makes the food undesirable because it doesn’t taste good, and even those that do enjoy the food they might get tired of it because they eat the same food every day. Then students find a vending machine which provides them with a source of food so they have enough nutrition to get through the day. Some might say that this is why kids are obese it can not be because students don't by 15 types of junk food from the vending machine it requires money which they might need for the Bus or other things. So kids that dont eat at school by from vending machines, that might not be the only reason for obesity. wWhile on the other hand, most of the schools try to ban junk food but in reality most of the food that they serve are unhealthy to students health. This is stated in the article,” The New York times upfront- the Magazine for teens”, and it quotes,” To begin with, there is the problem for junk food these days. Are we talking about potato chips, soda, and pastries? What about fried chicken fingers, cheese burgers, and pizza- foods many school cafeterias serve?”. This quote means that that it doesn’t matter what the school serves because its still gonna be considered as Junk food or unhealthy. The second quote is from the,Battle intensifies Junk food out of school lunch rooms”, and it states that,” Sugar and fat are also curtailed.Items sold on school property can’t contain more than 35% sugar by weight(or get more than 35% of their calories from saturated fat), and no items can contain trans fat.” This quote means that Junk food are curtailed and it can’t contain more than 35% calories from saturated fat. This concludes my reason to junk food in cafeterias. Schools want to stop selling junk food but many kids don't like the greasy pizza and prefer a bag of chips. Schools want to stop unhealthy foods but they don't realize the lunch they serve is more unhealthy than the junk food that they so desperately want to stop
